Het is tijd voor een eerste update van Carnold’s ruitenwisserduurtest. Inmiddels hebben de wisser hun letterlijke en figuurlijke ‘doop’ gehad. Twee dagen na de montage reisde ik af naar het zonnige zuiden voor de reportage van de Toyota Crown<\/a> en het zuiden bleek inderdaad erg zonnig te zijn. ’s Avonds sloeg het weer om en begon het stevig te regenen, dat betekende een drie uur durende terugreis door het duister, in de stromende regen. Het laatste dat je dan wilt is slecht zicht. Wat zijn ruitenwissers van de Action dan waard?<\/p>\n

De omstandigheden op de terugweg waren ronduit bar: windkracht zeven en drie uur aaneengesloten regen. Goede omstandigheden om de Action ruitenwissers op hun merites te beoordelen. De linkerwisser bleek af en toe moeite te hebben om het water weg te vegen. Bij de neergaande beweging bleef zo nu en dan een waterfilm op de ruit staan, precies in het blikveld. Het zag er naar uit dat de aanlegdruk op het midden van het wisserblad te wensen overliet, ook al zit er een extra spoilertje op de wisserarm. Ik moet zeggen dat de oude ruitenwissers (toen ze nieuw waren) dit euvel ook hadden.<\/p>\n

Tijdens een pitstop heb ik de ruitenwisserarm iets verbogen om wat meer druk op het midden van het wisserblad te krijgen. Dit had meteen effect, beide wissers veegden de ruit nu goed droog. Ook nadat de wissers urenlang onafgebroken geveegd hadden, bleven ze goed vegen, zonder strepen en zonder hinderlijke bijgeluiden.<\/p>\n

Ik behandel mijn voorruit altijd met RainX, een middel dat een waterafstotende laag op de voorruit vormt. Dit zorgt ervoor dat water moeiteloos van de ruit spoelt, zelfs al bij geringe rijsnelheid. Dit blijkt een goede combi met de Action ruitenwissers te zijn – tijdens een regenbui volstaat het om de ruitenwissers op de interval te laten staan. De ruit blijft veel schoner, zelfs nu er weer volop gestrooid wordt. Een seconde sproeien en twee keer wissen blijkt voldoende om deze hardnekkige, streepvormende troep van de ruit te vegen. Vooralsnog is er geen reden om aan de kwaliteit van de Action ruitenwissers te twijfelen. Ik ben dan ook benieuwd hoe ze het doen als de temperaturen straks onder het vriespunt terechtkomen.
