De Yaris is auto van het jaar geworden, en met een ruime voorsprong! Vanmiddag werd the Car of the Year 2021 bekendgemaakt, en de Toyota Yaris werd met 266 punten de overtuigende winnaar. Het verschil tussen de nummers 2 en 3 bedraagt slechts 1 punt, de Yaris bleef de nummer 2 met 16 punten voor. Toyota is hiermee het enige Japanse merk dat de verkiezing drie keer gewonnen heeft: in 2000 met de eerste generatie Yaris, in 2005 kreeg de Prius de titel toegekend. Het is een mooie erkenning voor Toyota en het nieuwe TNGA platform, waarmee Toyota meer dan ooit op rijplezier en beleving inzet.
