Kortgeleden ruilde White Bear Mitsubishi in Bear Lake Minnesota een Mitsubishi Space Star in met maar liefst 414.000 mijl op de teller. De Mirage, bij ons <a href=\"http:\/\/carnold.nl\/en\/mitsubishi-space-star-sympathiek-zuinig-en-ruim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Space Star<\/a> geheten was nog maar zes jaar oud en heeft dus meer dan 666.000 kilometer gereden. Hoe krijgt een mens dat voor elkaar?<!--more-->De Mirage in kwestie was eigendom van Jerry en Janice Huot die het wagentje in 2014 zagen staan bij de Mitsubishi dealer. Ze waren op zoek naar een zuiniger auto dan hun toenmalige Cadillac (je verzint het niet) en zagen de Plasma Purple Mirage staan midden in de showroom. Toen de winter intrad &#8211; die in Minnesota met zeer lage temperaturen en veel sneeuw gepaard gaan &#8211; stapte ze over naar een vierwielaangedreven Mitsubishi Outlander Sport &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/carnold.nl\/en\/rijtest-mistubishi-asx-instyle-2-0-cvt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">die wij kennen als de ASX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meneer Huot nam midden in de winter het stuur van de Mirage over en reed de volgende 407.000 mijl bijelkaar. Gerekend over zes jaar haalde de kleine Mits een daggemiddelde van 304 kilometer. Jerry Huot werkt namelijk als koerier voor een medisch lab en haalt monsters op bij huisartsen om ze vervolgens naar een centraal laboratorium te brengen. Over de hele periode waren slechts enkele reparaties noodzakelijk: de startmotor werd ergens tussen de 200.000 en 300.000 mijl vervangen, en twee wiellagers bij 150.000 mijl. Die beide reparaties vielen onder garantie, de familie Huot had namelijk een verlengde garantietermijn afgesloten. Buiten deze reparaties volstond regulier onderhoud voor de kleine Mirage. Zelfs tijdens de strenge winters bleef de Mitsubishi stug doorrijden &#8211; dat is ook een must, gezien het beroep van meneer Huot &#8211; het lage gewicht zorgde ervoor dat het wagentje nooit vast kwam te zitten in de sneeuw.<\/p>\n<p>Waar de Huot de <em>Purple Won<\/em> op ingeruild hebben? <a href=\"http:\/\/carnold.nl\/en\/rijtest-mitsubishi-space-star-1-2-instyle-cvt-derde-ronde\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Je raadt het nooit<\/a> \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tijd voor een bericht met een glimlach.
