Een auto was niet te zien, maar wel te horen. Een dikke V8 die start en rochelend draait, een veelzeggend statement, een voorbode van een heel sportieve Lexus. Sinds vandaag weten we wat de Lexus-toekomst in petto heeft: de nieuwe Lexus LC 500. Wow. Just wow.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>LS coup\u00e9?<\/h2>\n<p>De Lexus LC 500 is de productieversie van de LF-LC concept die exact vier jaar terug op de NAIAS onthuld werd. De LC wordt, als je het aan de afmetingen al niet kunt afzien, gepositioneerd boven de RC. De Lexus LC 500 is 4,76 meter lang, 1,92 breed en slechts 1,35 hoog. Waarschijnlijk deelt de LC 500 zijn onderstel met de toekomstige LS. er alles aan gedaan om het design daarvan zoveel mogelijk intact te laten. Dat betekende ook dat de heren ingenieurs inventief te werk moesten gaan. Volgens het persbericht zijn er &#8216;nieuwe oplossingen ge\u00efmplementeerd&#8217; om het ontwerp van de LF-LC concept tot zijn recht te laten komen. Lexus bouwt zalige hybrides die goed zijn voor de gemoedsrust en het groene geweten, maar men is de sportieve automobilist zeker niet uit het oog verloren. Onder de motorkap ligt de bekende vijfliter V8 die 351 kW (477 pk) levert en een maximum draaimoment heeft van 530 Nm. Voldoende power om de LC 500 in 4,5 seconden van 0 tot 100 kilometer per uur te stuwen. Van oudsher speelt vakmanschap en luxe een grote rol, en dat is bij de LC 500 niet anders. Het interieur is ontworpen en gebouwd volgens de &#8216;dynamic luxury&#8217; filosofie: de bestuurder en de rijbeleving staan centraal. Bij geen andere Lexus hebben de ontwerpers en engineers zo intensief samengewerkt, dit komt vooral tot uitdrukking in het interieur. Lexus spreekt zelf van &#8216;superieure rijkwaliteiten&#8217; en noemt de LC 500 een voorbode van de richting die het merk inslaat op het gebied van rijkwaliteit. Zoals gezegd staat de LC 500 op een geheel nieuw platform, dit zal de basis vormen van toekomstige Lexussen met de motor voorin en de aandrijving op de achterwielen.
